While testing out the package, we were presented with everything from a deep-sea experience to alien adventures. It is also a good mixture of casual and competitive games.

For instance, you can switch to the casual mode in London Heist or alter the length and intensity of Ocean Descent if you’re not up for something fast-paced.

On the competitive end, there are leaderboards in almost every game. You can use it to determine your ranking and compete with your friends. For example, VR Luge has timed leaderboards to see who is able to race to the bottom the fastest.

Features and Benefits

London Heist

While testing out VR worlds, we found London Heist to be the complete game in terms of both a story and mechanics.

It’s even better if you have two Playstation Move VR controllers. This is because the PS Move controllers work surprisingly well as an analog for a gun. So, the experience was more realistic than we anticipated.

As for the gameplay, it was slowly presented in flashbacks. It has two main shooting gallery segments and a car chase sequence that we couldn’t resist enjoying.

The only problem we had was that the game finished far too quickly. You can complete the whole game in 30 minutes, with only 10 minutes spent on the shooting scenes.

But, if you want to improve your score, there is also a shooting range mode. However, it lacks the adrenaline-fuelled action of the game.

Scavenger’s Odyssey

The second game we tried out was Scavenger’s Odyssey. Surprisingly, it is one of the few virtual reality games that we’ve tried that allow free movement.

The basis of the game is to maneuver your spaceship through different galaxies as you shoot the bad guys. You can use the analog stick of the PS Move controller to move and the PS VR headset to aim and shoot the enemies.

Out of all the games on VR Worlds, it offers the most mechanics. Moreover, the game is divided into two parts since it’s fairly long.

We did enjoy the experience and the combat, but the game became boring after a while.

We would also like to mention that changing perspectives combined with the fighting scenes in the game may cause motion sickness. Therefore, if you’re sensitive, we suggest you take breaks while playing or skip the game entirely.

VR Luge

The game features a downhill run through a city street. It requires head movement to control the character and save yourself from traffic as you slide down.

Unfortunately, our experience with VR Luge was not the best. There was a disconnect between the headset and the game avatar. As a result, we had to move our heads to an exaggerated degree to make the avatar move even slightly.

Even after countless recalibrations, the issue persisted. Apart from this, the game is not the most aesthetically pleasing game to look at. The environment felt drab and boring.

Ocean Descent

If you’ve never tried VR before, Ocean Descent is the best place to start. However, we would not classify it as a game but more of a virtual reality experience.

The game starts with you being placed in a virtual shark cage and plunged into the depths of the ocean. It is one of the most beautiful PlayStation VR games we’ve played. The graphics are so good it feels as if you can reach out and grab the fish.

As for the gameplay, you can either sit or stand up. We suggest the latter as it will allow you to role-play the experience perfectly.

There are three short parts within Ocean Descent, but the one that we enjoyed the most was the shark encounter. Seeing the sharp teeth of the shark as it tried to rip our cage apart was horrifying, but in the best way possible.

Similar to other VR World games, this experience was also too short. It took us around 15 minutes to cruise through everything the game had to offer.

Danger Ball

Lastly, we played Danger Ball. It is essentially Pong in 3D. You can use your head to direct the paddle and hit the ball.

There are also multiple opponents that you can go against, each with their own style of game.

Unlike the other games in the package, Danger Ball was extremely easy to jump into and it was responsive. We also found the stadium in which we were suspended to be very impressive in terms of graphics.

The head tracking (which was set up the same for other games) worked flawlessly with this game so the overall experience was entertaining. Although we do think it could have been made better with a multiplayer option which it lacked.

Factors to Consider Before you Decide to Buy PS VR Worlds

Replayability

PS VR Worlds is a tech demo. In other words, it contains short micro experiences created to show the capability of Playstation VR and its Move controllers.

Therefore, most of the games in PS VR Worlds lack replayability. The main issue is that the games are too short, so it’s just boring to play the same story multiple times.

Motion Sickness

It is not uncommon for VR to make you ill because it triggers motion sickness. The uneasy feeling can also stay for some time even after you remove the headset.

Therefore, we suggest you be careful while you play PS VR Worlds, especially games like Scavenger’s Odyssey and VR Luge.

Level of Difficulty

Since all the games in VR Worlds are mini-games, they’re very easy to play and understand. The storylines are also very simple and easy to keep up with.

The only problem we faced was calibrating the PS Move controller with some games such as VR Luge.

You can play VR Worlds with just the Playstation controller but some accessories can help improve your experience.

We recommend you get the PlayStation VR Aim Controller. It will help you aim better and take down targets with accuracy for games like Danger Ball. We also suggest you get a second PS Move motion controller for a better experience with London Heist.

While testing out the game, we first noticed how phenomenal the visuals are. The main characters are designed so well that they look like real humans. Even their movements and expressions were realistic.

The environment truly makes you feel as if you’re inside the game, which is something only a few VR games succeed at.

Moving on to gameplay, Blood and Truth is very simple. It is similar to linear rail shooter where you have certain places that you need to reach, kill enemies, move to the next spot, and so on.

There are also some puzzles in between like picking locks, sabotaging, etc.

Though this might not sound as exciting, all the action-packed sequences make it worth it.

Moreover, the PS Move tracking is incredible in the game. But, because of this, the calibration process might take a while.

We appreciated how realistic everything felt as we played the game. Even reloading the gun required us to manually remove the magazine strapped to our chest which added to the immersion.

Blood and Truth is definitely replayable since it is so well-crafted. It is also a longer game with plenty of cutscenes, so you won’t get bored while playing it again.

Most games that allow free movement cause motion sickness. But, since the Blood and Truth move on rails, it might offer some comfort in regard to motion sickness.

Even if you’re prone to motion sickness, the game has a higher frame and refresh rate, so it should not be too bad.

Level of Difficulty

Blood and Truth is equipped with difficulty levels that you can change. If you’re playing the game for the first time, we suggest having it on the lowest difficulty.

This level shows you a white line to help you aim and shoot. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it you can raise the difficulty level accordingly.

The basic premise of the game is to slice boxes to the rhythm of the music using two lightsabers. The color of the boxes (red or blue) corresponds to the color of the lightsaber you’re supposed to hit them with.

This adds complexity to an otherwise straightforward game. They also hit you with twists to make the game more interesting such as bombs you can’t hit, walls to avoid, etc.

Gameplay-wise, Beat Saber is extremely energetic. We worked up a sweat while testing it out. It’s also equally as entertaining if you’re a fan of drums, bass, and dance music.

One thing we love about this game is that there is no disconnect between the game and the controller. The tracking was impeccable. We played the game for hours, and every time our real-life actions were always in cohesion with our actions in virtual reality.

Compared to its previous versions, Beat Saber now offers a bigger music library. It also offers different modes. For example, the Solo mode is a single-player mode. Whereas, in the multiplayer mode, you can compete with up to 5 players for the highest score.
