With the holidays here and winter coming, it can be a really stressful time. Do you have a place to relax in your home?
A new study says half of us don’t get enough alone time. This can make us feel stressed, burned out, or even sad.
How does your home make you feel? Is it peaceful or chaotic? If life is crazy, make a quiet space to rest, read, and escape. You need time for yourself.
Create a special place to do what you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be big, just filled with things you love. Make a corner for relaxing – even a small one is okay.
I helped design a room for someone who wanted a private place. I used things she liked, like art and books from Italy.
I didn’t put too much stuff in there because clutter is stressful. I wanted it to be calm and peaceful with lots of light and plants.
There were not many pictures on the walls. Your eyes need a rest too.
Make Your Home Cozy: Hygge Style
Have you heard of hygge? It means feeling happy and cozy. Let’s make your home like that!
6 Ways to Make a Relaxing Space
You can slowly change your home to make it more relaxing. Start with a small part of your house.
Clear the Clutter
Get rid of things you don’t need. Put papers in a folder. Use boxes, baskets, or drawers for other things.
Let in the Sunlight
Sunlight is good for you. It helps your body. Don’t cover your windows if you have a nice view. Let in as much light as possible.
Love Your Space
Make a special place with things you really like. Use family photos or pictures of places you love.
Add a comfy chair, a soft blanket, and a good book. Use soft, cozy fabrics to help you relax.
Make a Quiet Spot
Find a place in your home to relax. Your bedroom can be good. Put a comfy chair or couch there where you can read.
Choose a spot where you can see outside. Put a small table next to it for your book, drink, or lamp.
No Phones Allowed
Pick a room without a TV. We need quiet time to talk and be together without phones or computers. It’s hard to unplug, but it’s important.
Imagine a wedding or funeral with phones ringing! We’re always connected now, even on days off. We need places to escape.
Bring nature inside! Put flowers or a houseplant on a table. It will make your space more calming.
