Google Search will now have continuous scrolling, meaning you’ll have to do less work to see more results.
Today, Google announced plans to roll out the continuous scroll on its mobile web searches in the U.S., starting next week. Those who use Google’s mobile web searches in English will now be able to view more results just by swiping their finger across the screen.
Next Page
Previously, when looking for results, people had to click on the next screen to see more. Now, with continuous scrolling, people can simply scroll down to the bottom of the screen and new results will be displayed automatically.
How Many Pages Will It Show?
This action will continue producing results for up to six page views. Some people may benefit from this, but others might not agree with this new feature.
“Most people who want additional information tend to browse up to four pages of search results,”
Google
As soon as you get to the bottom of a Google result, you’ll see an additional six pages of results before you need to hit “see more.”
Mobile Searches
For quite some time now, many other websites and applications have adopted this feature, allowing users to get more info with less effort.
It’s a fairly common feature, so it wasn’t surprising when Google implemented it into its own search results page.

Of course, this can be used for advertising purposes too, meaning Google can make even more money from your searches.
Benefits
However, if you’re looking for something specific, it might not be helpful for everyone. It may allow people to see more results at once but require them to click through to get there.
Experiment
Historically, Google has experimented with how many pages to display per page in one go. When Google asked people in 2008 if they preferred more or fewer pages displayed per page, they answered that they wanted more.
When they were shown more search results, however, they actually searched 20 percent less. However, that could be because of slower loading speeds back then.
You can test out the new continuous scroll feature by doing a Google search and then clicking “Next” at the bottom of the screen. If it works, it should automatically load the next set of results.
